Volvo Penta Engines
Many of the engines Volvo Penta made in the late sixties, are still running in ships and sailing boats. The most common models are AQ100, AQ115, AQ130 and AQ170. The engines are also known as Volvo B18, B20 en B30, placed in Volvo car models of that time. The early Volvo Penta diesel engines are known as MD5A, MD6A and MD7A and are frequently seen in sailing boats from the seventies. The V6 and V8, like the 4.3 GXi and 5.7 GXi engines, are designed for heavy duty purposes. In the nineties Volvo Penta developed the diesel engines 2000, 2001 and 2003t, which were used for sailing boats. The latest Volvo Penta diesel series are common rail diesel engines. The D4 and D6 are an example of the popular diesel engines series.
