Ignition for the Volvo Penta engine

A good ignition system is indispensable for a well-starting Volvo Penta engine. This includes: a spark plug cable set, an ignition coil, a rotor, a capacitor, a contact point set, spark plugs, and a distributor cap. Operation of the ignition
In order for the engine to start, the spark plugs must of course spark. The spark plugs start to spark because of the ignition coil increases the battery voltage to a voltage of between 10,000 and 30,000 volts. The ignition of older engines is often carried out with contact points. The modern ignitions are electronically controlled.

Replacing the ignition
In any case, maintenance of the ignition system is important, as a properly functioning ignition system ensures low fuel consumption and a smoothly running engine. If something goes wrong during ignition maintenance, such as adjustment, the engine may have a higher fuel consumption and the engine could be damaged. As a rule, it is wise to replace the spark plugs at least once a year, this ensures that the engine continues to start properly and that the ignition continues to work properly.
When replacing the spark plugs, make sure that both surfaces are clean and dry. When you replace the spark plugs, it is also advisable to replace any contact points. When you are going to replace several parts of the ignition, you must clean and dry all parts well, you can also use anti-condensation spray, this is a cleaning agent and it prevents condensation.
