Air filter for the Volvo Penta engine
Filters for all diesel and petrol engines.
The air filter is often replaced or cleaned every sailing season, during a major service or maintenance. A Volvo Penta engine with a clean air filter works better, consumes less fuel, and makes less engine/suction noise. In the Nordicar Marine webshop you will find different types of qualitative air filters for different types of Volvo Penta engines, for diesel (D3, D4, D5 etc.) as well as for petrol B18, B20, B21, also known as the AQ110, AQ115, and AQ120.
Operation of the air filter
Because a Volvo Penta engine block has a constant air supply, the air that comes through it must be filtered. The air filter ensures that no dust particles or other dirt residues get into your engine. If dust particles and/or dirt residues do get into your engine, this can lead to faster wear of the engine. High fuel consumption can be the result of an air filter that is too old, because the cleaner the air filter, the less fuel your Volvo Penta engine uses. A high-quality air filter is of the utmost importance, we wouldn't recommend trying to save on it.
Replacing the air filter
No specific interval has been set for replacing the air filter. But we recommend replacing the air filter every sailing season, it is at your own discretion of course. It is often easy to see if the filter is dirty and needs to be replaced.
How to replace the air filter depends on your engine.
With the older types, the complete filter often has to be replaced, but with the more modern types, you only need to remove the filter from the housing and insert a new filter. If present, replace the crankcase ventilation filter as well.
We will be looking forward to helping you find the right product for your Volvo Penta Marine Engine. From the air filter to getting a replacment fuel pump, we can get you the right piece for your engine.
